Building Information Modeling is the process of generating and managing building data and its various components throughout the building's life-cycle. Using three dimensional, real-time, dynamic building modeling software to increase productivity in building design and construction, the process produces the Building Information Model.
Unlike past 3D innovations in the building industry, BIM is more than a conceptual modeling tool. BIM encompasses building geometry, spatial relationships, geographic information, quantities and properties of building components. When the modeling software is used by manufacturers and principals involved in a building project, the resulting BIM is usable for fabrication. It involves ground-up reality rather than top-down theory.
Knight Design converts 2D CAD models or paper plans to smart 3D models using tools like Autodesk Revit, Tekla, etc. for Architecture, Structure, HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, drainage, electrical trades.
As a partner or BIM coordinator, Knight Design ensures project success by integrating, managing, and analyzing all 3D models to detect clashes and incompatibilities, recommending constructive solutions.
Linking construction planning with time, 4D models allow visualization and optimization of project phasing and sequencing. Simulate the entire process from demolition to move-in.
Linking 3D models and 4D time with cost, 5D models generate accurate quantity takeoffs and assist cost estimation throughout the project lifecycle using tools like Navisworks, Vico, Solibri.
Supporting building life cycle management, 6D models provide owners with a virtual model containing relevant data for operation and maintenance, including energy analysis and asset data.
Specializing in creating BIM families and templates (Architectural, Structural, MEP) with parametric properties and manufacturer metadata (e.g., Doors, Windows, Beams, Columns, HVAC components, Electrical fixtures, Plumbing fixtures).
Providing accurate Construction Drawings and MEP Shop Drawings based on International Building Codes for Architects, Builders, Contractors. Services include shop, fabrication, patent, isometric, as-built drawings, etc.
Producing interior/exterior renderings, virtual tours, walkthroughs, and REAL-TIME 3D interactive experiences (e.g., for Oculus Rift) using tools like 3ds Max, V-ray, SketchUp, Maxwell, Unreal Engine.

At Knight Design, we provide Building Information and Modeling services using various Autodesk tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc.). Our highly proficient team firmly follows BIM codes like NBIMS-US and AEC(UK) BIM Standards.
We understand the evolving technology in engineering and architecture. We maintain an active Revit family library development process, using families typically from LOD 350 to 400, and up to LOD 500 per client requirements.
